Year 2 had an adventurous day at Danbury Outdoors. The class took part in orienteering activities for an hour in the morning. After a short lesson on sawing wood and whittling, the children set to work cutting wood to make their own fires and whittling sticks. The highlight of the day was learning how to build a fire. The children made their own fires in small groups and really impressed our leader Terry with their ability to light the cotton wool with a steel and flint. We then learnt how to build up the fire using small sticks and kindling. We finished the day with us all gathered round the large campfire toasting marshmallows. Thank you to the parents that accompanied us kept us safe chopping wood! All the photos are on the school website under Children / Class pages /Jade.
